Total Displacement (Dt)
Total displacement allows for quantifying how much
the position of a structure has changed from a reference
point, which is crucial for assessing whether the movement
remains within safe limits. Additionally, calculating dis-
placement as a vector indicates the general direction of the
movement, which is important for forecasting where the
displacement may continue and taking appropriate action.

Direction of Movement
The exact direction of movement helps understand the
displacement pattern of the structure. If the displacement
points toward a vulnerable area, such as an infrastructure,
water body, or populated zone, it can indicate a higher risk
of damage or failure in that direction. This information is
crucial for proactively implementing protective measures or
adjustments to the structure to prevent further issues.

Stability Index
A stability index is a quick and easy- to-interpret measure
that summarizes the overall condition of a structure. By
monitoring the index over time, you can observe whether
the structure remains stable or shows signs of deterioration.
This facilitates decision-making for preventive maintenance
and allows for a rapid review of the structure’s status with-
out having to analyze every individual detail.
RESULTS
This study focuses on the analysis of tailings storage facili-
ties and waste rock dumps, evaluating their physical stabil-
ity, environmental impact, and compliance with established
remediation standards.
Mining Tailings
In our study, we analyzed Tailings Storage Facility No. 2,
located in Sector 1, known as San Agustín Mine, within
the Hualgayoc area.
In Figure 6, a displacement in the north and east coor-
dinates for each monitoring milestone from 2014 to 2022
can be observed. In the north coordinate, the displacement
