BCBDTC can shut down the redox processes of certain
minerals/metals in solution and adsorb via LAB interac-
tions comprising electron redistribution in the metal-ligand
complex. ToF-SIMS allowed for the identification of sur-
face species which corroborate their ability to form com-
plexes with soft acids. Ore flotation results demonstrated
the unique affinity of BCBDTC for Cu, Au, Ag, and PGMs
and their ability to address mineralogically diverse systems.

The findings from these studies justify the use of LAB con-
cepts and Pearson’s HSAB principle to explain the behavior
of not only the ligands considered in this study, but ligands
in general in flotation systems.
There are still many peculiarities regarding the coordina-
tion chemistry and interfacial properties of the ACADTCs
that have yet to be addressed. Additional studies should
entail assessing their interactions with other minerals of
