Separation Results and Discussion
Results of REDMS
REDMS tests were carried out by varying the drum speed,
and the findings of the tests are presented in Figure 7. From
Figure 7, it is found that maximum iron content has been
reported at an intermediate drum speed of 70 rpm and ana-
lysed at 23.8% Fe(T). At this condition, the non-magnetic
product has been enriched to 49.9% CaO from the feed
assaying 44.5%CaO. Further enrichment was difficult in
this type of separator due to the higher magnetic field gra-
dient over the drum surface which can attract both metal
as well as slag particles. However, there is an interesting
observation on the marginal change in the FeO content in
both fractions. Similarly, changes in the P2O5 content of
the products were found to be insignificant.
Results of RERMS
The findings of the tests conducted by varying the roll speed
of RERMS are shown in Figure 8. From the Figure 8, it is
found that a maximum iron content of 18.7% Fe(T) has
been reported at a higher roll speed of 400 rpm, particle size
of –3 mm, and splitter position at 3. At this condition, the
non-magnetic product has been enriched to 48.5% CaO.
The maximum enrichment of CaO of 49.7% is reported at
