the continuous design generated lower overall net contact
areas for both modes, but the contact ratio was significantly
higher (PW/PP =2.55). This indicates that a continuous
design is preferable to a segmented one.
Identification of an Optimal Design
As presented previously (Rasera et al., 2022b), we demon-
strate our optimisation approach by focusing on the inter-
nal structure of the tribocharger. Specifically, we consider
