3822 XXXI International Mineral Processing Congress 2024 Proceedings/Washington, DC/Sep 29–Oct 3
CONCLUSIONS
The present work assessed a comminution route for chrome
ore from FERBASA’s Ipueira mine, aiming to replace the
current circuit consisting of a jaw crusher, conical crusher,
and bar mill with an HPGR. The results obtained indicate
not only a great technical potential for such replacement,
but also an economic one, since the HPGR has much
greater energy efficiency than the bar mill. There is also a
possible reduction in the cost of wear parts and grinding
bodies. The adoption of HPGR also brings an environmen-
tal advantage to FERBASA in terms of water consumption,
since this crusher is operated dry, and noise. Although the
test results have good reliability, the simulated capacity val-
ues may suffer deviations in real operation, and it is recom-
mended to consider a tolerance of ±10%.
