CO2 emissions caused by decarbonization of limestone.
While rotary kilns are economical only at large scale, the
flexibility of modular EESS reactors can produce a range of
cementitious products to meet market demand. The high
entropy caused by the electric field in the EESS reactors
coupled with shock quenching can accommodate dolo-
mitic limestone.
For the mining industry to implement innovative tech-
nologies such as EESS, it needs to view the conversion of
tailings into cementitious materials not as an add-on to
existing operations, but as an integrated part of a mining
project. The potential for synergistic collaboration between
the mining and construction material industries is substan-
tial, especially to reduce their joint environmental footprint.
