Cavex ® DE hydrocyclone combined with dewatering
screens.
Cavex ® DE hydrocyclones produce a sand product (under-
flow discharge) with low fines content. When a sufficient
coarse tailings feed, such as coarse particle recovery (CPR)
sand is permitted, the classified product exhibits good
permeability and self-draining properties. This allows for
the use of dewatering screens to achieve solid concentra-
tions by weight exceeding 80% continuously, unlike other
existing methods. The corresponding flowsheet for this
option is given in Figure 5. Implementing such circuits also
increases water recovery to around 78% with a make-up of
0.41 m3/t. Additionally, the produced material can often
