At Antamina, the types of ore are treated according to
their mineralogy. Antamina´s main ores are listed below:
M1: Grade A Cu-Mo Chalcopyrite
M2: Grade B Cu-Mo Chalcopyrite
M2A: Grade C Cu-Mo Chalcopyrite
M4B: Grade B Cu-Zn Chalcopyrite-Sphalerite
M5: Grade C Cu Bornite
M6: Grade C Cu-Zn Bornite-Sphalerite
The composition of a skarn deposit allows the presence
of complex lithological zones, in which the occurrence of
mineralization will be affected by the characteristics of the
host rock, causing mining zones with variable metallurgical
responses.
Antamina has a flexible flotation circuit (Figure 1)
that allows for processing different types of ores, and pro-
duces different types of concentrates, from typical Cu &
Mo concentrates to polymetallic Cu and Zn concentrates.
Antamina´s concentrator has a capacity to process 145 ktpd
of ore.
CPF PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
ROAD MAP
Aiming at operational excellence, Antamina in 2021
engaged in a study of various innovation projects to improve
the metallurgical efficiency of its operations. One of the
technologies studied was the HydroFloat ® Coarse Particle
Flotation (CPF). Figure 2 shows part of the road map as
followed in that project. This paper will address the results
