XXXI International Mineral Processing Congress 2024 Proceedings/Washington, DC/Sep 29–Oct 3 2349
organic carbon was demonstrated. It was recognized early
on in the test work program, that due to the nature of the
organic carbon found in the majority of the ore feed, that
a carbon pre-flotation stage would be challenging to man-
age and would result in a significant degradation in overall
recovery performance.
Evaluation of various organic carbon depressants even-
tually resulted in the selection of a reagent that was success-
fully trialed and subsequently implemented in operation,
significantly improving the value of these carbon contain-
ing ores.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
Any search for a solution to a challenging problem typ-
ically involves a large number of contributors and engaged
and supportive stakeholders to allow for the resources
needed to develop and implement a solution. As such the
role of the operational metallurgy teams and the Newmont
metallurgical services teams are gratefully acknowledged,
with specific mention of the contributions by Zachery
Zanetell, William Cochran, Kelly Murphey, Juan Alcalde,
Hamer Arevalo, Julio Palacios, Leoncio Sevilla, Jennifer
Thogerson and Daniel Lopez.
