size of 0.5–0.25 mm gradually decreases with the increase
of grinding time. At the grinding time of 30 min, the 0.5–
0.25 mm grain size disappeared.
From Figure 6a, the ash content is getting higher and
higher with the reduction of the particle size of crushed
product. For the coarse-grained product, rod milling has a
certain role in reducing the ash content. When the grind-
ing time is 5 min, the lowest ash content of 0.5–0.25 mm
particle size is 5.70%, and the highest ash content of
–0.045 mm particle size is 14.81%. This indicates that
there are more high ash fines in the raw coal, and the ash is
easily enriched in the fine grain level. With the increase of
grinding time, the degree of dissociation increases, and the
ash content shows basically a decreasing trend, of which
–0.045 mm particle size ash reduction degree is the larg-
est, from 14.81% to 8.62%, with the deepening of the dis-
sociation. With the deepening of the dissociation degree,
the reason for the reduction of ash is that the combustible
body in the coarse-grained coal is gradually dissociated to
the fine-grained level.
In order to understand more simply and clearly, the
variation of yield and ash with grinding time for the three
grain levels of +0.074, 0.074–0.045, and –0.045 mm are
shown in Figure 5b and 6b.With the increase of grinding
