to correct operational issues within a preparation plant. The
reporting of plant efficiencies in monetary terms has the
added benefit of providing senior managers with economic
information needed to prepare convincing justifications for
capital requests. Circuitry design which incorporates the
ability to maximize coal recoveries should be utilized, and
new technology thoroughly investigated for its ability to do
just this.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
The initiatives highlighted in this manuscript are a testa-
ment to the hard work and dedication of numerous person-
nel from all facets of the coal industry who have cooperated
with the authors over the past several decades. Their insights,
efforts and contributions are gratefully acknowledged. The
benefits from this co-operation have been enormous and
will continue to be so.
