that there was binary association of iron oxide minerals with
paramagnetic allanite as the latter typically requires higher
field intensities to achieve recovery to magnetics. However,
feed mineralogy suggests approximately 85% should be
well liberated, which would suggest Halleck Creek allanite
has higher than typical paramagnetic susceptibility. This is
supported by the higher iron content noted in mineralogy
compared to “textbook” allanite. It was noted that NdPrO
recovery at this field strength is similar to TREO+Y, due to
the prevalence of allanite as the main LREE carrier mineral.
Increasing to 6000 gauss produced a large TREO+Y
grade increase as well as recovery, which suggested this is
where the bulk of liberated allanite was being recovered.
